WinSat
, originally 8 members, was formed in 1984 by Rick Hawkley, Ted
Evans, Wes Clegg, Jim Judge, Russ Rowlands, Tony Shanahan, Eric
White, and Sid Coulbeck.
Sid
left in 1985, and his place was taken by Bob Meadows.
Bob
left in 1986 and at that time it was decided to expand the group
to 12 members. Allan Millard, Ken Bamford, Bob Worboys, Bill Preston
and John Bligh being invited to join at that time.
In
1990 John withdrew and Chris Dracott was offered his place.
In
1992 Bill's work took him abroad and John Bligh rejoined.
However,
in 1993 John moved away from the area and Viv Royle was invited
to replace him.
In
1999 Chris was unable to play regularly and Robin Browne took
his place initially for the year. Chris then decided not to return
and Robin was invited to fill his place on a permanent basis.
In
2002 Ken Bamford had to undergo a series of operations and Joe
Mossop took his place for the year. Happily Ken made a full recovery
and rejoined, indeed won, the following year. Joe has reverted
to his role as WinSat Super-Sub.
In
2007 Tony was unable to compete and Joe stepped in again - this
time to win. He continued for the next two years replacing Robin
in 2008 and Ken again in 2009. Both happily returning after the
one year absence.
In
2011 Dave Cutt came in to replace Jim, who returned the following
year.
In 2012 Alan decided to retired and Joe Mossop became a permanent
member.
In
2013 Jim retired due to health problems and Viv left the club
- their places were taken by the welcome return of Bill Preston
and Ron Sutton who had previously filled the super-sub role.
In 2015 Ted, Ken and Tony retired and their places were taken
by Colin Hedley, Nigel Worboys and Fred Hopley
In 2017 Robin was ill and Peter Chaney filled his place. Colin
got the first ever Tour hole-in-one at Carlisle 13th.
Then in 2018 Russ was unwell and Ron was going to step down and
Peter became a full member. Ron in fact stayed on an extra year
to replace Russ.
In
2019 after the sad loss of Eric White out treasurer and founder
member. Phil Robinson joined the group. Robin got hole-in-one
at 10th.
